About GEO

GEO is a set of free interactive databases and tools built collaboratively by people like you

GOAL: to promote an understanding, on a global scale, of the dynamics of change in energy systems, quantify emissions and their impacts, and accelerate the transition to carbon-neutral, environmentally benign energy systems while providing affordable energy to all.

By providing easy to use and visualize data, models and analysis tools we aim to engage the public and the experts.

Data in GEO can be edited from anywhere in the world.

We invite collaborations to help build GEO.

Overall Structure of Data in GEO

Our Goal

To collect data at the individual plant/system level and build tools to aggregate and analyze interconnected energy systems at regional and national level.

The global energy data is organized into 4 "Categories", each subdivided into "Types"

Data for each "Type" is further subdivided by

  1. Country
  2. State/Province/Region (primary geographical division within a country)

Data for each individual infrastructure system is displayed in a formatted factsheet with the following modular structure (See Help and Glossary files for details)

Tools to manipulate and analyze data are summarized in Overview of Tools and Features
